Our new purpose built exercise studio is now open in our Congleton clinic. We offer 1-on-1 personal training, rehabilitation, and closely supervised exercise therapy, with our Degree trained Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, and Sport Rehabilitators.
Given under the supervision of a fully qualified physiotherapist, rehabilitation (rehab) is tailored to your clinical condition. We structure a rehab programme to begin at your current fitness level and aim to gradually increase the programme as you improve. This approach, called Progressive Exercise Therapy (PET) ensures that each aspect of your physical condition improves, never placing excessive strain on your healing tissues, but stimulating them to improve as they heal. We work on the strength of muscles supporting your joints, mobility (free movement) of the joints themselves, and endurance (keeping going) of your tissues to help stop them becoming fatigued.
Pilates is a form of structured exercise which works on body alignment with special emphasis to the core (centre of the body) and posture. We use Clinical Pilates rather than Fitness Pilates which is normally offered in gyms and leisure centres. Clinical Pilates is taught either by Physiotherapists, or Pilates Instructors who have undergone extensive additional training to focus on the specific requirements of those who have had injuries or special conditions which require closer supervision. We teach Clinical Pilates either 1-on-1 (1 client with 1 instructor), or in small groups (6-8 clients with similar needs and 1 instructor) depending on requirements. Many individuals begin 1-on-1 to learn the Pilates exercises and then progress to small group work when they feel confident.
Our Back-fit programme is for clients who have received physiotherapy treatment for low back pain (LBP) and / or Sciatica and are referred into the programme by a therapist or their GP. Clients will normally have been given specific exercises as part of their physiotherapy treatment, and when pain free can move on into the Back-fit programme to improve their back health to make re-injury less likely. The programme consists of 6 sessions of back related exercise.
Ante & Post natal exercise
Ante (before childbirth) and Post (after childbirth) natal exercise is given by one of our female physiotherapists to help you maintain fitness through your pregnancy or recover following childbirth. The programme is conducted in small groups and requires an initial consultation with one of our female physiotherapists.
Yoga is a traditional exercise form originally from India which combines physical exercise with self-awareness (mindfulness). We use modern western yoga which is non-religious and structured to be a balanced and safe exercise form. The type of yoga we teach has been subjected to scientific scrutiny for use in the treatment of low back pain especially. Yoga is available 1-on-1 or in small groups.
Lectures and Courses
Our new studio is also a dual use facility where we run lectures, seminars, and courses. We have a ceiling mounted PowerPoint projector, extensive seating, changing facilities, and a kitchen. See our courses page for a listing of events.
